Dr Ramawad Soobrah Graduated from Newcastle University (UK) in 2003 where he did his internship. He subsequently pursued his training in General Surgery and has a specialist interest in the diagnosis and management of breast diseases. He has worked in 5 different Breast Units across England :

Dr Soobrah has several publications and presentations at International conferences covering a wide ranging topics such as medical education/training, clinical simulation, patient safety, surgical topics, quality of medical information on internet and lab-based scientific research.

Dr Soobrah has a keen interest in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He obtained a Masters in Medical Education with distinction from the University of Hertfordshire in 2011. He was also awarded the “Teaching Excellence Award” in 2011 and the “Local Teaching Hero Award” in 2013 by Imperial College London.  These awards are conferred by Imperial College upon members who have made a significant contribution and provided strong support towards the delivery of undergraduate medical education.

He is a certified Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Englandand has taught on many post-graduate courses (Basic Surgical Skills course, Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient course) during his surgical career.

Dr Soobrah is the only registered Breast Surgeon in Mauritius and currently does full-time private practice only. He has worked at Victoria Hospital from May 2014 till February 2019. He sees around 100 new breast cancer cases every year and has so far operated on more than 400 Mauritian women affected by breast cancer.

He was been awarded membership with the following intuitions:
